St. Patrick’s Altar & Rosary Society

The purpose of our Society is to promote praying the Rosary and cultivate a greater devotion to our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar through Mary Queen of the Most Holy Rosary.

The Altar Rosary Society has played an important part of St. Patrick’s Parish and we are looking for new members.

Membership is open to all ladies of the parish.  We meet on the lst Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Parish Hall.  Every meeting is opened with the recitation of the Rosary.  Membership is $10.00 per year.  Our next meeting is Thursday, October 5th.

Some of our responsibilities include the purchase and maintenance of altar linens, the priests’ vestments, stoles and cassocks and care of the altar server cassocks and surpluses. We set up the seasonal decorations and flowers during Easter, Advent and Christmas. Our Society also maintains the Sacristy candles and furnishes the hosts, wine and other articles needed for Mass and the cleaning supplies, etc. required to maintain the church.  We also assist with any other church functions and the cleaning of the church throughout the year.

Our flower purchases are supplemented by parishioner contributions during Easter and Christmas.  Other income is derived from the our Annual Christmas Bazaar with it’s Silent Auction and Raffle in the fall, the Card party in the summer.

Many of our members and their families are involved in other ministries as well, such as ACTS, Men’s Bible Study, CCD, Bible Study, Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Eucharist, Lectors, choir members, ushers.  It’s a great way to meet people.

We are very grateful to the parishioners of St. Patrick's for their support and assistance throughout the year.  If you feel that this ministry is for you, we would love to have you.  God’s blessings to all.

The Knights of Columbus are especially encouraging all Catholics to participate in the power of prayer and fasting in community during this next "40 Days for Life" campaign.  We need to pray for the lives lost and for an end to this evil.

The Knights of Columbus will be hosting a Living Rosary immediately following the 5:30 p.m. Mass on all Mondays during the campaign beginning on October 2nd and ending Oct. 30th.  It will be held in the School courtyard flag pole grassy area adjacent to Alameda Street.

We invite you to join us in praying/fasting for the protection and sanctity of human life.

Please call the Parish Office at 855-7391 to speak to one of the priests or Sr. Avelina if you're interested in signing up for RCIA. Forms are available in the foyer of the church or online. RCIA meets every Wednesday in Our Lady of Knock Hall from 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Prayer Blanket Ministry

The Prayer Blanket Ministry will be meeting Saturday, October 28th from 11 a.m.—1 p.m. in Our Lady of Knock Hall.  They are looking for new volunteers to help keep this ministry going.  Sewing skills are NOT a requirement.  There are many other ways you can help.  This ministry brings comfort to those who are struggling or suffering, sick, in the hospital or bedridden.  These beautiful lap blankets (3x4 approximately) are prayed over as they are made and come with a prayer booklet with prayers for the recipient.  Knowing that people have prayed for them and that the blankets have been blessed by our priests, goes a long way in their healing process.   We often run out of the blankets at the rectory, because so many people ask for them.  The success of this ministry is due completely to the volunteers who dedicate their time, talent and prayer to this rewarding ministry.  If you have a couple of hours once a month to help out, show up this Saturday or call Liz at 443-6086.  Donations of fabric, thread and other sewing items are always welcome.

We meet in Our Lady of Knock Hall (OLK-A) on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 p.m. OUR NEW BIBLE STUDY IS “James:  Pearls for Wise Living”.  In the introduction to the Letter of James it mentions that he was a relative of Jesus and on of the three key leaders of the Church in that first generation (the other two were Peter and Paul).  He was an eyewitness of the Resurrection.  He presided over the Council of Jerusalem and was acknowledged by Paul as ‘pillar’ of the community.  James was not only a leader; he was a man of wisdom who taught the wisdom of the Kingdom of God in a style much like Jesus.  The Letter was written in and sent out from Jerusalem, where James led the Church for more than a decade prior to his martyrdom in 62 AD, when he was stoned to death by the Jews.  His Letter is addressed “to the twelve tribes in the Dispersion”, meaning all the Jews who lived outside of Israel.  We are going to look for WISDOM to live a life fully devoted to God in the midst of trials and tribulations.  The study will run 11 weeks.  The cost is $20 for your study book.  Come, join us and bring a friend!  Reserve some time for the Lord and be enriched.
