St. Patrick’s Altar & Rosary Society Is Looking for New Members!!!

The purpose of our Society is to promote praying the Rosary and cultivate a greater devotion to our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar through Mary Queen of the Most Holy Rosary.

The Altar Rosary Society has played an important part of St. Patrick’s Parish and we are looking for new members.

Membership is open to all ladies of the parish.  Every meeting is opened with the recitation of the Rosary.  Membership is $10.00 per year.   Envelopes for Dues will be in your January packet. We normally meet on the 1st Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Parish Hall, however, our this month our meeting is Thursday, January 11th.

Some of our responsibilities include the purchase and maintenance of altar linens, the priests’ vestments, stoles and cassocks and care of the altar server cassocks and surpluses. We set up the seasonal decorations and flowers during Easter, Advent and Christmas. Our Society also maintains the Sacristy candles and furnishes the hosts, wine and other articles needed for Mass and the cleaning supplies, etc. required to maintain the church.  We also assist with any other church functions and the cleaning of the church throughout the year.

Our flower purchases are supplemented by parishioner contributions during Easter and Christmas.  Other income is derived from the our Annual Christmas Bazaar with it’s Silent Auction and Raffle in the fall, the Card party in the summer.

Many of our members and their families are involved in other ministries as well, such as ACTS, Men’s Bible Study, CCD, Bible Study, Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Eucharist, Lectors, choir members, ushers.  It’s a great way to meet people.

We are very grateful to the parishioners of St. Patrick's for their support and assistance throughout the year.  If you feel that this ministry is for you, we would love to have you.  God’s blessings to all.

Prayer Blanket Ministry

The Prayer Blanket Ministry will be meeting Saturday, January  27th from 11 a.m.—1 p.m. in Our Lady of Knock Hall.  They are looking for new volunteers to help keep this ministry going. Sewing skills are NOT a requirement.  There are many other ways you can help.  This ministry brings comfort to those who are struggling or suffering, sick, in the hospital or bedridden.  These beautiful lap blankets (3x4 approximately) are prayed over as they are made and come with a prayer booklet with prayers for the recipient.  Knowing that people have prayed for them and that the blankets have been blessed by our priests, goes a long way in their healing process.   We often run out of the blankets at the rectory, because so many people ask for them.  The success of this ministry is due completely to the volunteers who dedicate their time, talent and prayer to this rewarding ministry.  If you have a couple of hours once a month to help out, show up or call Liz at 443-6086.  Donations of fabric, thread and other sewing items are always welcome.

 A Prayer Blanket Maker’s Prayer

As I begin may the love that Jesus puts in my heart, come through my fingertips and onto this blanket. Let the one who receives it, feel comforted by the love and prayers that I send forth. May there be peace in their hearts, oh God. And thank you for our talents that we share in Jesus name.  Amen
