Caring Friends (Meal) Ministry

Funerals of loved ones are a trying time for families. Providing a lunch following the funeral is an opportunity to give some measure of comfort and support to families that speaks to the value of being a part of a parish community. St. Patrick’s welcomes this ministry of dedicated volunteers who coordinate the food (side dishes and desserts), serve the meals and do all the set up and clean up entailed. More volunteers are always appreciated and needed as 'regular' volunteers are not always available. Please consider this ministry as a valuable contribution to the life of the Parish. We are grateful to have such committed people who serve in this capacity as the need arises. THANK YOU!

If you have questions about this ministry, or would like to become a volunteer, please contact Diana Salinas at 361-877-0377.

School News

Registration in Progress

St. Patrick School is currently registering children for the 2018-2098 school year. Our mission is to educate children to know, love, and serve God through religion, academics, physical activities, fine arts and community service. For more information or to make an appointment to visit with the principal and tour the school please call the school office at 852-1211 see hours below, Monday through Friday.

Guardian Angel Program

The St. Patrick School Guardian Angel Program is a tuition assistance program.  As a “Guardian Angel” you will make a beautiful difference for a family who might otherwise have no hope of enrolling their child in our school or who might be facing the difficult decision of withdrawing a child from St. Patrick School. Even a small donation will make a difference to a struggling family. Your donation, will give you the opportunity to personally touch the lives of our children, their families, and St. Patrick School.

Summer Work Reading/Math Information

Summer Reading and Math information was sent home in the green Monday Folder.  Each grade level has provided summer skills information.

Research suggests...that children who read as few as six books over the summer maintain the level of reading skills they achieved during the preceding school year. Reading more books leads to even greater success. When children are provided with 10 to 20 self-selected children's books at the end of the regular school year, as many as 50 percent not only maintain their skills, but actually make reading gains. (McGill-Franzen and Allington, 2003)

Most students lose about two months of grade level equivalency in mathematical computation skills over the summer months. *Great Summer Reading Lists   www.haisln.org
