Baptism

Godparent Requirements
- At least one godparent is required for Baptism. If two godparents are chosen, they must be one man and one woman.
- A godparent must be at least 16 years old and have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist. They must regularly attend Sunday Mass, receive Holy Communion, and strive to live according to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- A single godparent must be living according to Church teachings and not cohabitating outside of marriage. A married godparent must be married in the Catholic Church.
- Godparents are required to attend a Baptism preparation class with the parents or complete the class at their own parish.
- A non-Catholic Christian may not serve as an official godparent but may participate as a Christian Witness if they are actively living their Christian faith.
